"If a rape van was called a surprise van, more people wouldn't mind going for rides in them. Everyone likes surprises." That one "joke," posted on Twitter by Miguel Torres, is all it took for his time in the UFC to come to an abrupt end. While we all know everyone on the social networking site tries their hand at comedy once and a while, there's a limit to everything and Torres clearly crossed that line.

Following the announcement of Torres' release, UFC president Dana White told SI.com"There's going to be times when things happen and mistakes are made. I cannot defend Miguel Torres. I cannot defend what he said. What he said makes no sense other than when he says, 'It was a joke.' Well, I don’t think that’s a funny joke. I think it’s disturbing." When HeavyMMA's Matt Erickson questioned Torres about the controversial tweet, the mixed martial artist said that "the quote was a reference to a line to an FX sitcom, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Episode No. 2 of the series fourth season took place largely in a van with tinted windows that the characters repeatedly called a 'rape van.'" Draw up your own conclusions as to where you stand on this issue, but we can all agree on one thing: Torres ruined a great opportunity with the UFC.
