OK, so the 49ers aren't only the best NFC West team (ehh, really not saying much), they're one of the best teams in the league period. With a victory over the Giants on Sunday, the Niners are now 3-1 against teams in the NFC East and only one of their eight victories this season has come against a divisional opponent. Alex Smith proved that the team's offense is not one dimensional as he threw for 242 yards and completed 19 of 30 passes. Yards through the air were needed as Frank Gore rushed for zero yards on six carries and left the game with a minor knee injury in the second half. Of the remaining seven games left on the season, San Francisco will only have to face two teams with winning records, so 13 wins or more on the year is quite possible if they remain focused. —Ralph Warner
