1. Thomas Jones, Dexter McCluster
RB, WR, Kansas City Chiefs
Owned in ESPN Leagues: 62.6, 6.8%
The collective scream of depression from fantasy fanatics could be heard across America on Sunday when news broke that RB and top-5 pick Jamaal Charles tore his ACL. That leaves veteran Thomas Jones and youngin’ Dexter McCluster to fill the gaping hole in an already horrible-looking Chiefs offense. As of right now, expect Jones to take the heavier load. This is his 12th year in the league, and he has been through the grind of being a feature back. Many think that the 33-year-old is running out of gas, but consider this: Jones piled up 896 yards and six TDs last season WITH Charles healthy. At the very least, the Chiefs will use Jones’ size on third downs and at the goalline producing some TDs. McCluster is a pickup with potential as well. The 23-year-old will have touches not only running the ball, but on swing passes and screen plays as well. His speed and ability to make big plays give him value.
