VW Considering IndyCar and ALMS But Nixes NASCAR

The world's fastest left turning Jetta not coming to a Southern state near you.

None

VW has given an emphatic "no" to participation in NASCAR due to the high initial investment cost. NASCAR hasn't been entirely ruled out, but the likelihood of seeing a faux-Jetta doing 200mph laps of Daytona is very, very low. Just try to read "Jetta doing 200mph lap of Daytona" aloud and you'll see why. Drag racing has been entirely ruled out. It seems that VeeDub is willing to let the original Beetle owners take that one for time.

The American Le Mans Series and IndyCar, on the other hand, might still be in the cards. While IndyCar is, in our opinion, a bit more of a long shot, we'll go out on a limb and say that VW participation in ALMS is very likely. With the success of the Audi team in the 24 Hours of Le Mans it would not be too much of a jump for Volkswagen to participate in similar American events.
