When the Rockies gave Mike Hampton the largest contract in sports history at the time, they figured they would be getting the same dominant groundball pitcher who had gone 22-4 with a 2.90 ERA in 1999. However, once Hampton got to Coors Field he went 21-28 with a 5.75 ERA over two seasons before being dealt to the Braves.
