President Obama Might Ruin the First Night of the NFL Season

Yo, O: Don't you know that we're dying for football to start?

Forget the NFL lockout. The only thing standing between us and the start of the 2011-12 NFL season right now is President Obama. That's right—President Obama! O is a diehard sports fan, but that hasn't stopped him from scheduling a speech he's going to give to Congress for September 8 at 8PM/EST. As in, Thursday, September 8, the night that the Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints are set to kick off the first game of the NFL season at 8:30PM/EST. Normally, that wouldn't be a problem. But the first game of the NFL season starts at 8:30PM/EST on NBC, which will likely want to air the Prez's speech. So if it runs longer than a half-hour, um, yeah. Don't expect O to be getting too much love from NFL fans that night.

Man, we know you're a Bears fan and you probably don't care about the nation missing out on a Packers game, but don't you know how long we've waited for football? [via SB Nation]
