The normal BMW 530d sports a 241hp diesel engine that returns around 38 miles per gallon. Most people would just stop there and be happy with the fact that their fairly large German sport-luxury sedan gets gas mileage that's better than some sub-compacts. Alpina, on the other hand, thinks the diesel 5er needed to produce 345 horses and somehow return the same fuel economy. If you've got the means, you no longer have to choose between burning lots of dead dinosaurs and a 5.2 second sprint to 60.

In addition to the fantastic powertrain, the D5 features tighter suspension and those sweet 20" Alpina Classic rims.
