It's safe to say that Jerry Rice never picked Randy Moss for his fantasy football team. Just a week after Moss announced that he was retiring from the NFL, Rice made an appearance on ESPN Radio yesterday and revealed that he had a hard time watching the former Patriots receiver strap on a helmet every Sunday afternoon. "It was hard for me to swallow because I was not as talented and I had to work harder," Rice said. "To see a guy with that much talent not give 100 percent, it was almost like a little slap in the face. But Randy was Randy."

Rice also admitted that Moss could have been the G.O.A.T. at his position—if he'd just put his mind to it. "He could have been one of the greatest if he had worked just a little bit harder," he said. "I don't think he wanted to give it 100 percent. You never know what you were going to get with Randy. Sometimes you'd get the unbelievable guy, the amazing guy. Other times you'd get the guy that took a couple plays off."

In other words, there's nothing worse than wasted talent. And Jerry Rice thinks that's exactly what Randy Moss had. [via Pro Football Talk]
