If you’re in the city today, chances are you might encounter a giant wiener. This might not be different than any other day in the NYC, but this giant wiener is Oscar Mayer’s Wienermobile which was introduced on July 18th, 1936. To celebrate it’s 75th year, this large meat on wheels hit the streets of New York City. Jalopnik spotted the vehicle making its rounds on 75th and Broadway and reports that it will head down to the New York Stock Exchange. Today’s version of the Wienermobile is based on a GM chasis with Pontiac Firebird tailights and reaches 27 feet in length. That’s a whole lot of beef for your grill.
