What Recession? $500K Lancia Stratos has Buyers Lined Up for Days

Would you drop half a mil on a converted Ferrari?

The Lancia Stratos isn't really a new car, but more of a design exercise. Put together by design house Pininfarina and Michael Stoscheck, the modern-throwback is in actuality a converted Ferrari F430. While the first example reportedly cost a cool $4 million to build, the duo figures they can offer limited quantities of the Stratos for around $540k. That figure includes about $135k for a (most likely pre-owned F430) and the remainder budgeted for the conversion.

That's quite the knot of cash for what is in essence a "kit car", but guess what? They already have about 40 buyers ready to pay. Check out some images and tell us if those waiting are living the life, or just plain crazy.
