Clockwork: The 10 Coolest Car Watches

Watch makers have been partnering with car makers since the first zero to 60 time was recorded. Some of the dopest timepieces have come out of such collaborations--just look at the Tag Heuer Carrera line, or the Breitling for Bentley brand. Last week, French watch maker, Jaeger-LeCoultre debuted their latest chronograph made in partnership with Aston Martin, the AMVOX5. A mixture of leather, rose gold and titanium, the limited edition AMVOX5 is without a doubt, one of the best timepieces to come out of an automotive and watch partnerships. But it's not the best. Collabo: Sinn Spezialuhren Frankfurt x Mazda


Complex Says: German watch maker Sinn Spezialuhren Frankfurt took numerous style ques from Mazda cars and made this surprisingly stylish square faced watch. The only two negatives: it was only available in Europe, and they were asking $2,000 a pop for it. You can get a used Miata for $2,000!

Collabo: Fortis x Volkswagen


Complex Says: You know how dope Porsche Design is? Looks like Volkswagen--who also owns Porsche--wants to be just as hot. In doing so they launched their own design firm called, what else, Volkswagen Design and one of their first products is this timepiece made with Swiss watch company Fortis. Simple and clean, the only thing we question about this watch is what to do if the rubber strap breaks. But, if it's anything like their cars, it'll rock for a long time.

Collabo: TAG Heuer x Mercedes-Benz x McLaren


Complex Says: OK, so Mercedes and McLaren are no longer bff's, but they still rock together in Formula 1 (for now). Back when they released their hyper-car, the SLR, TAG Heuer, Mercedes-McLaren partner since 1985, decided to celebrate with a special edition watch that was as sleek and sophisticated as the car itself. We're still waiting to see if they make one of Mercedes' new SLS and McLarens MPC-14C.

Collabo: Chronoswiss x Audi


Complex Says: 2009 marked Audi's 100th birthday. All last year the German automaker celebrated with special dealer incentives, cool new models and concepts, a dope documentary and this watch made with Swiss company (you'll see that a lot on this list) Chronoswiss.

Collabo: Jaeger-LeCoultre x Aston Martin


Complex Says: The fifth watch to come out of this partnership is inspired by all of Aston Martin's race cars throughout the years. The AMVOX5 is based on Jaeger-LeCoultre's Cailbre 752 movement and can be had in either ceramic, titanium or 18-karat rose gold. Only 500 are being made, so... yeah. Collabo: Wilhelm Rieber x Maybach


Complex Says: When it came time to build themselves a way, Maybach didn't just holler at any ol' watch maker. No, they went super exclusive and tapped on of the best independent watch makers in the world: Willhelm Rieber. He's known for building tourbillon's for customers and other watch companies. Maybach's signature timepiece perfectly represented what the brand is about: classic, elegant styling, premium materials and exuberant price. If you wanted one of these limited run pieces on your wrist you had to cough up $153,000.

Collabo: Parmigiani Fluerier x Bugatti


Complex Says: The most visually interesting watch on this list is also the least practical. The watch face is on the bottom of the watch, making the wearer have to contort their arm to read the time. What the baller wearing this watch does get, though, is a good view of is the one-of-a-kind mechanism that was made by Parmigiani Fluerier just for this model. Made to commemorate one of the least practical cars on the road, the Bugatti Veyron, only 150 were made. One of which went to car aficionado and all around baller, Ralph Lauren.

Collabo: TAG Heuer x Porsche


Complex Says: TAG Heuer has been making Porsche inspired timepieces for decades now, and the best we've seen has been the Calibre 17 RS. With the brown leather strap, rose gold bezel and date and second windows, it's as classy and technically on point as a Porsche Carrera.

Collabo: Breitling x Bentley


Complex Says: When Bentley needed a watch maker to build the chronograph found on the dash of all their models, they tapped Swiss luxury brand Breitling. Furthering that partnership, Breitling developed an entire sub-brand called Breitling for Bentley with pieces inspired by the British brands car models. Our favorite from the line is their most exclusive and expensive. Named after Bentley's famed British workshop, Mulliner, and the and the Tourbillon, a famed time-tested Swiss watch mechanism used for counteracting gravity and other disturbing factors that matter for the accurate performance of a time piece. It's literally the best of both worlds.

Collabo: Hublut x Morgan


Complex Says: Underneath the Morgan Aero's charming old world looks is, well, more old fashioned materials like wood. That aside, Morgans have continually proven themselves to be makers of some of the finest sports cars in the world. They're so good, Hublot decided to bridge the old and the new with a limited edition version of their Big Bang model. Ascetically they don't go together, but neither do Jay-Z and Beyonce and look how well that pairing's turning out.
