This Video of People Trying Nike Flyease For the First Time Will Touch Your Heart
Watch how Nike's Flyease sneakers have positively impacted people's lives.
Flyease started with a single shoe. Inspired by a letter from then-16-year-old Matthew Walzer, a modified take on the Zoom Soldier 9 was created to give people with disabilities a more accessible method of putting on their shoes.
It wasn’t just a one-and-done project though. Thanks to user response, Nike has expanded the line with more models and more options. “We saw all of these posts on social media, many of which included constructive feedback on accommodating ankle-foot orthotics, expanding the size range, introducing new widths, etc. – and so we did all of those things,” explained Tobie Hatfield, the creator of Flyease.
But even this expansion is just the beginning. Nike has just launched the Nike Ease Challenge, a call to “designers, engineers, makers, and innovators to advance and reinvent footwear design for athletes of all abilities.” The challenge comes along with a $50,000 prize as further inspiration to progress the accessibility of footwear for everyone.
