We've become accustomed to seeing hybrid models in the sneaker world. Shoes like the Jordan 6 Rings or Nike 1/2 Cent, for better or worse, have become a big part of this culture over the last few years.
While that concept is still present (as proof, the Spizike is still available on NIKEiD), we've started to see a new type of hybrid more recently: signature details from one sneaker being used on another model.
The Air Jordan 5 Retro 3Lab5 helped introduce this, taking the elephant print found on the Air Jordan 3, and completely covering the Air Jordan 5 with it. We've also seen this with entirely unrelated shoes. A new colorway of The Glove was recently released with its shroud done up in Tech Challenge print.
Today, we have a closer look at the counterpart to th 3Lab5, The Air Jordan 3 Retro 5Lab3. As you can see in these images, it takes the iconic 3M from the tongue of the Air Jordan 5, and similarly wraps the entire upper of the 3 in it.
What do you think of this concept? Do you prefer it to seeing entire models mixed together like the hybrids of the past? Do you think this is a trend we are just seeing the beginning of? Check out the detailed shots below, showcasing the shoe's 3M upper, and let us know your thoughts in the comments.
