Kobe Bryant is dead, at least according to Nike Basketball. The brand said as much about the still-living legend on Tuesday in a tweet building up to the release of his new shoe, the Kobe A.D.
The morbid messaging didn't stop there—there were also images of candles arranged around photos of Bryant for a makeshift wake. The theme is tied to today being Dia De Los Muertos (Nike tweeted about Bryant's death in Spanish) and the "A.D." name of the model.
Proving that rumors of his demise were greatly exaggerated, Bryant showed up to the shoe's launch event today in Los Angeles to talk about where his sneaker line is going and where it's been.
