This new pair of the adidas D Rose 5 is indeed inspired by Rose's Chicago roots, but that's only part of the story.
The shoe is also a tribute to Derrick Rose's mother, and serves as this year's entry into the ongoing "Brenda" series that's been around for a while now on Rose's line. Brenda's name is actually on every pair of Rose 5s, one of the shots below shows it inscribed in the toe, but this one is more direct with the theme. The shoe moves away from the standard set of modern materials that make up this signature shoe, and instead features a woven upper. The adidas D Rose 5 'Brenda' release date is Feb. 5.
