Next year, Portland Trail Blazers point guard Dame Lillard will follow Derrick Rose, Dwight Howard and John Wall as adidas Basketball's next signature athlete. Originally previewed by Lillard in October, the adidas D Lillard 1 is seen in detail below.
The model fills adidas' void for a primarily low-top sig. Features include flexible TechFit upper, inner bootie construction and SprintFrame support. When asked why his adidas shoe isn't loaded with Boost cushioning, Lillard said he wanted to keep the price low.
This Portland-inspired colorway, which will likely be the first to launch, sports a black synthetic upper, red accents, white branding hits, a speckled midsole and marble outsole.
There's still no word on an official release date for the D Lillard 1, but it's still on target for 2015.
UPDATE 12/30: In addition to new images via @oklai19, Matthew Kish of the Portland Business Journal reports a Friday, February 6 launch date for the D Lillard 1. An unveiling event is also scheduled for January 13.
