The Quad City DJ's are preparing to collect their next big royalty check with big news making rounds on the Internet this week - Michael Jordan's Space Jam is heading to Blu-Ray. A seemingly integral part of every sneakerhead and Michael Jordan fan's childhood, Space Jam paired the world's greatest basketball player (and still is, Scottie) with a star-studded cast that included Wayne Knight, Bill Murray, Patrick Ewing, Muggsy Bogues, Shawn Bradley, Larry Johnson, Charles Barkley and all of your favorite Looney Tunes. After being captured by Mister Swackhammer's Nerdlucks in an effort to make him the main attraction for a failing theme park, MJ teams up with the Looney Tunes to battle the Monstars for his freedom.

Space Jam wasn't exactly a homerun with the critics, but it performed well at the box office. At the end of its run, it grossed $90,418,342 in the United States and approximately $230,000,000 internationally. In the sneaker world, the film was also important because it spawned what is now known as the "Space Jam" Air Jordan XI, one of the single most collectible sneakers in the hobby.

According to Blu-Ray.com, Warner Home Entertainment will bring Looney Tunes to high-def with the release of Space Jam, which is currently scheduled to drop on October 4th. Information for special features and extras isn't known at the moment, but we'll update you here at Sole Collector if we hear anything new.
