Reigning NBA Champion and Finals MVP Stephen Curry is reportedly close to securing a lifetime endorsement deal with Under Armour.

According to the Rolling Stone, Curry has “nearly locked a lifetime contract with Under Armour worth potentially more than $1 billion,” but the purported deal have not yet been announced by either of the parties involved.

Curry signed to Nike when he entered the league in 2009, but left in 2013—notably due, in part, to a botched presentation from the Swoosh to get Curry to stay with the brand. Shortly after his Nike contract expired, Curry inked an endorsement deal with Under Armour. Curry’s tenure with Under Armour was in question in 2018 after he felt the brand had a lack of commitment to his shoes at the time. Curry then had a meeting with Under Armour’s former CEO, Kevin Plank, who agreed to establish Curry Brand, a subsidiary brand of Under Armour that officially launched in 2020. Curry’s current deal with Under Armour is set to expire in 2024.

Since then, Curry has released the Curry Flow 8 and Curry Flow 9 signature basketball shoes under his Curry Brand, with a third silhouette with his namesake on the way. In addition to product, Under Armour confirmed that a percentage of Curry Brand’s annual earnings will be invested back into underserved communities. By 2025, the Curry Brand is expected to create at least 20 safe places for kids to play, support 125 programs that are designed to uplift young athletes, and provide opportunities to train more than 15,000 coaches who will positively impact over 100,000 kids in their communities.
