Fans can expect plenty from Takashi Murakami at this weekend's ComplexCon, but the artist has another exciting project on the way which won't be ready quite in time for the event.
Murakami took to his Instagram today to show off a detailed look at a new sneaker collaboration he's working on with Japanese bag company Porter. In a lengthy caption, Murakami detailed the process behind creating the shoe, explaining it's currently at the midway stage. The artist says the creation was inspired by his infatuation with sneaker culture which has blossomed in recent years.
As for the shoes themselves, they feature a high-top design boasting a variety of materials including leather and Porter's signature nylon. An array of mini Porter pouches are affixed to the upper, which was previewed in two forms: one with double midfoot straps and the other with a mesh webbing covering the shoe's white leather. Down low, an Air Force 1-inspired sole is adorned with Murakami's flower graphics.
According to Murakami's post, there's still more work to be done, but official release details should be known soon.
