Converse are shutting down Shoreditch to celebrate the One Star. As the brand prepares to drop the all-new One Star collection, Converse are taking to London to open the doors to the Converse One Star Hotel, five floors of anti-luxury accomodation providing the ultimate union of sneaker, skate, style and music culture.
Unlike any other hotel you've ever experienced before, the One Star Hotel exists to give its guests an authentic taste of London's street culture. Converse are promising staff with attitude, zero sleep for guests, loud neighbours and queues round the block for the gift shop.
Located in the heart of Shoreditch, the One Star Hotel celebrates counter-culture and this generation's anti-heroes with rooms curated by the likes of A$AP Nast, Yung Lean and MadeMe; live music into the early hours from acts including IAMDDB, Princess Nokia and Slowthai; workshops and panels featuring Paria Farzaneh and The Basement; and a long list of exclusive sneaker drops that will only be available at the One Star Hotel.
The Converse One Star Hotel opens to the public on February 16th and 17th but before then, COMPLEX went inside the ultimate resting place for sneakerheads to experience the Hotel first hand.
Take an early look through all five floors of the Converse One Star hotel below.
You'll enter the One Star Hotel through the lobby, where 15-year-old streetwear enthusiast @gullyguyleo will be waiting to welcome you in his own inimitable style.
The "Step Into Sweetness" room translates the pastel colour palette of the latest Spring 2018 Converse One Star lineup into an immersive and Instagrammable experience of cotton candy colour, sound and taste.
It's the Year of the Dog and to celebrate, Beijing-based hip-hop artist Tizzy T is hosting a two-day Mahjong tournament. If you win, you'll face Tizzy T himself for a chance to win exclusive Converse x Tizzy T One Stars.
The "GRAPE" by Converse Cons room tells the story of the newest Converse CONS One Star Pro Grape through the lens of Jamie Platt, a 20-year-old skater from Bournemouth who bought his first pair of Converse when he was just five-years-old. The new skate film from Converse will premiere here.
In "NYC RIOT GRRRL", New York brand MadeMe brings back the 90s riot grrrl scene. Set in monochormatic yellow, the room will play host to Dawn Lombardi, Princess Nokia and Nicole Albino.
In "World Affairs", Yung Lean tells a biographical tale about a misfit stranger from Stockholm who enjoyed a nomadic upbringing to become a worldwide music phenomenon. Lean creates an alternate reality where travel meets early internet aesthetics.
In "Somewhere in Mid-Century", A$AP Nast pays respect to the mid-century period by incorporating materials of various textures, patterns and understated shades all inspired from this influential time in design history. The room will see the rapper surprise guests through live, in-room screen printing and a hyper-limited first-time release of his Converse collab in the UK.
