After a fruitful sneaker partnership with Nike and Air Jordan, Drizzy Drake is expanding his palette and set for a collaboration with British footwear company Clarks Originals. The rap superstar will lend his extremely popular OVO branding for a capsule of signature desert boots set to drop tomorrow May 26.
If you consider yourself a stan and lurk online forums all day, then you may have already come across leaks from Clarks and Drake’s camp that showcase the upcoming items, which are sure to be a hot commodity on the resale market. Judging from the brief glimpses we’ve received, it looks like the OVO x Clarks boots will come in an eggplant purple, crisp black, and classic beige colourways. The limited edition pieces are outfitted with stitched OVO logos and include Drake’s iconic owl splashed onto a hang tag.
This particular collaboration is an obvious power move from the historic English shoemaker, and is yet another example of hip-hop’s cultural relevance translating into market gains for fashion retailers. Much like with Kanye West, Rihanna, and more recently A$AP Rocky, it’s safe to assume Clarks is hoping for a nice little boom to come out of their newfound Drake cosign.
Luckily for both parties, the OVO boots are definitely a fresh option for colder weather and rainy London days. You can check out some of the higher resolution images below. In the meantime, you can cop the shoes tomorrow by buying them online or at select retailers. Stay locked onto Complex Sneakers for more info regarding the summer's hottest drops.
