Jordan Brand is usually not keen on commenting on the negative elements within sneaker culture, like the violence that often occurs around their coveted footwear. Michael Jordan himself reportedly reached out to the mother of a son slain over Air Jordans, but others at the brand have been mostly been quiet.

Breaking the silence is Jordan Brand VP Howard "H" White, who spoke on the issue in an interview with Esquire.

"It saddens me…'It's a shoe that I want so I'm going to take it.' Unfortunately those things happen, which are systemically bad," White offered. "...You hate to see that [sort of violence] over anything, actually. You would reduce yourself to this?"

White goes on to say that sneaker culture is full of an overwhelming amount of positives that eclipse the negatives.
