This Weekend's Essential Sneaker Drops: Week Of June 25 2016

Killa Beez on the swarm

With the NBA season now all over, Nike have sent forth a swarm of Killa Beez to take the industry by force. It's the Triumph video all over again this weekend. Whether you're looking to bomb atomically in a pair of EQTs or jump like Rod Strickland with the classic Jordan 8s, there's a lot to cop. Let's get into it.

Nike Air Jordan 8 “Celebration Pack” (Championship Trophy & Confetti)

With the release of this year’s celebration pack, Jordan Brand are once again celebrating MJ’s glorious run to yet another title. After launching the crazy Air Jordan 6 celebration pack, which featured cigar and champagne motifs, the Air Jordan 7 revisited that look with lesser results. Ditching that tired theme and going for gold (in an Olympic year, no less), Jordan Brand whip up a delicious combination based around the championship trophy (white/gold) and the championship confetti (black/multi). The trophy pair features a luxurious smooth white leather upper, with tasty golden highlights all over, while the confetti pair features high grade tumbled black leather, similar golden highlights and a confetti-themed heel counter. This is probably my favourite Jordan pack since the subdued and severely underrated GMP 6/7 pack, you really can’t beat monochromatic uppers with golden highlights.

NikeCourt x Liberty of London 2016 Collection (Women’s Only)

Sometimes it just doesn’t pay to have a big foot. When Liberty Design drop one of their regular Nike collaborations, you can’t help but feel a bit slighted that Nike doesn’t really make larger women’s sizes like they used to. This latest collection from the London design studio features a hand painted print on five different silhouettes, ranging from the Benassi Slide, Air Rift, Cortez, Tennis AC Court and the halo model, the Air Max 1 Ultra. All five pairs mix up the exquisite pattern with vachetta tan highlights (or in the case of the Cortez, flipping the primary pattern for all vachetta with pattern highlights) and finished off with Nike’s good old, reliable Volt. This is by far one of the best collections in recent memory and sure to be a winner with both women and smaller footed lads everywhere.
