Today marks the release of Kevin Durant's latest signature shoe with Nike, the KD 9. The brand actually unveiled the silhouette in March during its 2016 Innovation Summit, so today's launch is less about first looks and more about the design background and colorway stories to come.
Part of that is this conversation between Durant and Leo Chang, a top Nike Basketball talent who's long been the design lead on Durant's footwear line. In the video, the seven-time All Star explains what he needs from a signature shoe.
"I'm looking for something that's like, lockdown tight," Durant says. "And I could move around a lot, and I could shift to the right and come back to my left really quick and pull up on a dime."
First up for the KD 9 is the pre-heat "Zero" colorway, which releases on June 20 for $150.
