First-time Olympian Jimmy Butler already has his sneaker plan set for the summer games: he'll wear the Air Jordan 31 while playing on the men's USA Basketball squad in Rio. Butler told Sole Collector about his upcoming footwear in an interview on Monday.
Jordan Brand has had Russell Westbrook leading the flagship Air Jordan model on-court for some time now, but he'll be absent from the games, leaving Butler and Carmelo Anthony as the two Jordan endorsers on the team.
The Air Jordan 31 is rumored to release as early as September, and hasn't leaked yet.
Butler also mentioned that he hopes to consult with Michael Jordan to get some Olympic insights before he heads to Rio.
"I will, probably within the next week and a half, two weeks," Butler said. "Get on a phone call or maybe even see him."
