Yesterday morning, Nike co-founder Phil Knight sat down with CBS Sunday Morning for a revealing interview where he opened up about the early days of the brand, the future of the Swoosh, and some of Nike's biggest controversies throughout the years.
When the topic of sneaker violence—specifically the shootings over Air Jordans that became prevalent in the early '90s—came up, Knight didn't shy away. "That was just a shock. I think the reaction was, this is insane and it's a shock," he said.
"In terms of just the desirability, it had reached this cultural [point]," interviewer Lee Cowan said. "It was more than just a shoe."
"Yeah, that's true," Knight said.
