There Is a Petition Demanding That Nike Move Its NYC NikeTown Location Out of a Building Owned by Donald Trump

Thousands of people have signed a petition asking Nike to stop leasing a building owned by Donald Trump.

Nike has been known to act quick when it comes separating itself from controversial figures, but now there is a petition accusing the brand of not acting fast enough when it comes to being in business with Donald Trump. The "Tell Nike to #DumpTrump" campaign is demanding that the brand not renew its lease for the NikeTown Flagship store in New York City, which is located in a building owned by Trump.

Nike opened doors at this location in 1996, so changing locations would be a major move for the brand, but thousands of people have already supported the move. To further their point, petition organizers point to how fast Nike cut ties with Manny Pacquiao after his comments on same-sex couples earlier this year. "Nike didn't blink before dropping Manny Pacquiao for his abhorrent remarks about same-sex couples. It cut ties with Maria Sharapova immediately after she announced that she failed a drug test. But when Donald Trump calls women "fat pigs," mocks a disabled reporter, calls Mexicans criminals and “rapists,” and insults a prisoner of warNike does NOTHING," said petition organizers. Nike has a reputation for being inclusive to all communities, so it'll be interesting to see what they decide to do come 2017.
