Nike are throwing their W’s in the air as they take the Cortez QS back to California, more specifically to the city of Compton.
Any self-respecting sneaker head knows that the Nike Cortez is embedded in West Coast culture. If you were paying attention to Kendrick Lamar’s bars on the—now infamous—Control joint he even name checks his “White T’s and Nike Cortez”.
The pack itself comes in two simple, but effective colourways—an all-black and all-white model. Making the sneaker standout is the ‘1972’ type font stitched on the heels, which is usually associated with Compton and their nearby neighbourhoods in South California.
The Nike Cortez QS ‘1972’ pack will be dropping next week, April 29 in select retailers as such as Oneness for $75 (£53).
