Kanye West has been fighting to prove himself as a respectable designer in the fashion world for years, but his ability to design sneakers has never been questioned. While most people would credit the Nike Air Yeezy 1 as his first sneaker, we now have photos of a sample pair that he designed with adidas a decade ago.

Former adidas Originals Global Director Ben Pruess took to Instagram to share the West-inspired Rod Lavers, while setting the record straight about these being the first design made between West and the Three Stripes. The photos of the Rod Laver featuring the College Dropout bear are consistent with the story told by former adidas Global Entertainment Director Gary Aspden in the latest issue of Crepe City Magazine. There is no doubt that these would have sold well back in 2006, but we agree with what Aspden told Crepe City magazine about everything working out for the best in the long run.
