It’s hard to believe but 2016 marks OFFSPRING’s 20th anniversary, and throughout those twenty years they’ve managed to establishe themselves as an integral cog in the sneaker community, making their various stores across the UK a prime destination for anyone who’s serious about their kicks. During this period expect to see a host of OFFSPRING collaborations crop up, and to kick off the proceedings they’ve linked up with ASICS for a GEL-Lyte V collaboration.
Following up from 2014’s successful GEL-Lyte V 'Desert Pack’ collaboration, OFFSPRING and ASICS have returned to the model to release a sneaker inspired by OFFSPIRNG’s very first store on Neal Street, Covent Garden. Drawing inspiration from the streets' famous cobble-stoned pavements and it’s famous Piazza, the new colourway infuses a rich beige suede and nubuck. Meanwhile the lining design is a nod to OFFSPRING’s original brand colours from 1996 and the bespoke cobbled street sock liners create the first of a two-part ASICS collaboration to celebrate OFFSPRING's 20th anniversary.
An ASICS stamp and the Japanese symbol ‘=+’ (which translates to ’20’) is added on the sock and lace tips as a finishing touch and a nod to ASICS’ Japanese heritage.
The OFFSPRING x ASICS GEL-Lyte V ‘Covent Garden Market 20th Anniversary’ collaboration will be dropping on March 25 for £115 from all OFFSPRING stores and their webstore. For a closer look at the sneakers scroll down to our gallery below.
