After making its grand return on last weekend's Air Presto release, the "Safari" colorway made famous by the 2002 atmos x Air Max 1 collaboration comes full circle next week.

Although these aren't a one-to-one replication of the O.G. release, they're as close as many of us will ever come to finding a wearable pair of this colorway. Aside from the toebox shape that plagues many Air Max 1 retros, the biggest differences between these and the originals are the materials. At the toe box underlay, canvas is replaced with a nappy fur-like material, while the O.G.'s gum outsole is swapped out with an icy glow in the dark look.

It should also be noted that this release isn't being marketed as an atmos collab this time around. In its official product description, Nike says this 2016 colorway is "reminiscent of a former collaborative Air Max release," but has been updated to differentiate it from the original.

Despite the changes, we have a feeling that runner enthusiasts and casual 'heads alike will be going for a pair of these. The "Safari" Air Max 1 is priced at $150 and will be available via a Nike SNKRS drawing on March 14  beginning at 12 p.m. EST.
