From the Air Footscape Magista to the Free Mercurial Superfly, Nike's soccer cleats have had a huge influence on its lifestyle sneakers as of late. Now, it looks like the Nike Running department is going to be taking a few cues from the pitch, too.
Previewed here is the Nike LunarEpic, a new Flyknit-equipped runner with an extended ankle collar reminiscent of Nike's soccer offerings. Down low, a contoured Lunarlon midsole similar to that of the LunarGlide 8 will deliver plus yet responsive cushioning, while Flywire cables provided added lockdown. These weigh in at 8.3 oz, making them lighter than many of Nike Running's current sneakers like the Zoom Pegasus 32 and Flyknit Air Max.
It should be noted that Nike dropped a retro-inspired sneaker called the Lunar Epic in 2012, but this is a completely new model. No additional info was provided on these LunarEpics, but more details should be made available soon.
