This Weekend's Essential Sneaker Drops: Week Of December 5 2015

After seeing a European release a few months ago, Australian fans of the Formstripe now have a chance to pick up the second collaboration featured in Puma’s Adventurer Pack collaboration series. SNS supremos Erik and Peter take inspiration from their many travels around the world, with Erik working an XT2+ with turquoise suede on most of the upper with navy leather on the heel, creating a look reminiscent of his old Swedish passport. Peter puts a subtle spin on the XS850, using premium suede and ballistic nylon mesh to make a tonal black shoe, perfect for when you need to look good but need something tough at the same time. Both shoes are finished with personal details and highlights from Erik and Peter throughout and continues Puma’s strong creative take on collaborations in 2015.

Returning for summer 2015, CDG PLAY, the accessible street fashion division of venerable Japanese fashion house Comme des Garcons, collaborate again with Converse, this time on their high-top All-Star 70 model. Blending a thick canvas upper with a rubberised sole and toe cap, the collaboration sees the distinctive and instantly recognizable signature Play ‘heart’ logo feature heavily on the lateral sides of the shoe, and is finished with high-quality flourishes such as silver eyelets and a contrasting black vertical stripe down the heel.  Perfect for anyone looking for a high-end spin on the classic sneaker staple, these will be a feature during the hot Australian summer.

The Instapump Fury has long been a streetwear icon among the females of Japan, where the silhouette is seen on feet of women of all ages and styles. Inspired by downtown Chicago’s modern architecture, St Alfred release another top-shelf ASICS collaboration, draping the Gel Lyte V in navy and turquoise Durabuck on the upper, ripstop nylon mesh at the vamp and adding Gore-Tex inner lining to keep your feet dry from the elements. Despite being targeted at the Northern Hemisphere’s harsher climate this coming winter, the use of a soft palette on a white midsole makes this perfectly suited for our summer months too. The colour-blocking is similar to their previous Gel Lyte 3 collab, with a highlighted heel counter. Look for these to sell out much like St. Alfred’s famed GL3 released 2 years ago.

The most glaring omission from 2014's run of Air Jordan VI celebrations is finally getting a long-awaited retro. The classic ‘Maroon’ colourway is set to return in remastered form, complete with OG Nike Air branding on the heel and outsole. Wrapped in an off-white leather upper, the whole shoe is offset with maroon highlights on the iconic plastic tongue, heel pull and midsole. Even though these never saw court time on MJ’s feet, the reintroduction of Nike branding has set the internet alight, with instant sell-outs all but assured this weekend. Releasing in limited numbers in both Adult and GS sizing, make sure you get your raffle tickets, camping chairs and internet bots ready.
