Since 1998, Nike's Mercurial range has provided soccer players with lightweight, speedy boots endorsed by some of the game's greatest from Brazil's Ronaldo to Cristiano Ronaldo. Now, the O.G. Mercurial R9 cleat is being re-imagined as a modern day Air Max runner that will let soccer fans take one of the game's most iconic designs from the pitch to the streets.

Known simply as the Nike Air Max Mercurial R9, this sneaker lifts the wavy lines and shape of the original Mercurial R9 and places them atop a heel-cushioned Air Max sole. The upper itself has undergone something of a redesign, too, with new materials like synthetics and mesh making these even lighter than before.

We have a feeling that the colorway pictured above is only the beginning for this new model, so keep it locked here for the latest updates. These should be arriving sometime in early 2016.
