By now, it probably doesn't take an award to prove that the adidas Yeezy Boost 350 is one of the best sneakers of 2015, but Footwear News is making it official by crowning it the "Shoe of the Year." Tonight Footwear News held its 29th "Achievement Awards," and Kanye West was in attendance to receive this honor.
In classic West style, he took the stage and didn't hold back with his remarks and storytelling. Joining him on stage was adidas Global Director of Entertainment and Influencer Marketing Jon Wexler, who West credited for "saving his life" by allowing him to express his creativity on sneakers.
"Jon Wexler saved my life. He knows about Chicago culture. When you go out to work with someone, know their back story," he said.
While West has earned his fair share of awards throughout his music career, this one clearly means a lot, especially with his past statements about breaking the "glass ceiling" in the fashion industry." Congrats to West and everyone on team adidas.
