Yesterday, Jordan Brand officially unveiled Chris Paul's newest signature sneaker, the CP3.IX, and today a new interview proves just how far the line has come over the years.

"I was telling someone earlier that when the CP3.1s came out, I thought it was like God's gift to mankind," Paul told Sole Collector. "Now I look back to the 1s and I say, 'Those were some bricks. How did I play in those?'"

Damn. Truth be told, he's right, and his signature sneakers have made some truly impressive strides since those dropped in 2008. "It's just been a humbling process, but I'm grateful to see how it's all evolved from the material, to the cushioning, to how good it feels. It's something that I don't take for granted," Paul said.

Paul also admits that during the early days with Jordan Brand, he was afraid to speak up and give input on the designs. "Sometimes you see something and you're like 'I like that' and then you really don't," he said.

Elsewhere in the interview, Paul touches on the nuances of the CP3.IX, comparing colorways with fellow players like LeBron James, and what he might do if he spots you in public wearing his sneakers. You can read the whole thing over at Sole Collector now.
