The big sneaker news in the sports world today was the word that adidas has offered James Harden $200M for a 13-year deal, but Nike just announced that it's made room for two rookies in the NBA: Karl-Anthony Towns, the no.1 overall pick in the 2015 draft, and D'Angelo Russell, the no.2 pick.

The news was announced by Nike PR Director Heidi Burgett, but there's no official information on the signing. Burgett simply tweeted, "Welcome to the Nike Family @Dloading and @KarlTowns."

Towns, who was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves, and Russell, drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers, give Nike new blood on its roster and perceived star power for the future.

Russell previously announced that he was joining Nike, but this is the first time that the brand acknowledged it being official.
