An unfortunate incident occurred today at a major sneaker event in New York City.
At Sneaker Con NYC—held today at the Javits Center—a fight broke out between two young sneakerheads. Videos of the altercation have littered social media and depicts the two teens grappling with one eventually taking down the other. The "fight," which thankfully appears to not have resulted in any serious injury, is the latest in a string of black marks involving sneaker culture. Earlier this month, two women, one brandishing a bat, came to the aid of a teenager being jumped for his Air Jordans.
With the continuing rise in sneaker popularity and the demand for limited edition sneakers, this unfortunately won't be the last time we write about sneaker violence. Let's hope we're wrong.
