The web is a very wonderful place, my friends. Through various means of electronic packets of information flying through cyberspace, you are able to learn new and cool things in a matter of moments. Here's one that flew across my Twitter feed last night that could not be ignored: Legendary Japanese author Haruki Murakami loves Undercover clothing. It eventually brought me to this forum that linked to an Instagram from the Undercover account that linked to a question and answer from Murakami's website back in February where someone asked him, "Do you wear Undercover?" While Murakami has previously mentioned Comme des Garcons he's also apparently expressed an interest in meeting Jun Takahashi of Undercover? Admittedly, I can't exactly tell because Google Translate slaughtered the phrasing. Anyway, here's Murakami's response:
Jun Takahashi is also a very enthusiastic marathon runner which may be part of it, but I often run in the products he designs, running wear by 'GYAKUSOU' (manufactured by Nike). I don't mean to advertise, but having the runner design the clothes makes them extremely easy to wear. There's also many pockets which makes it easy to hold things like an iPod or keys.
There you have it. Haruki Murakami is an avid fan of Jun Takahashi and his Gyakusou collaboration with Nike because they both love to run marathons. Thank you to the Internet sleuths that posted it up for us to alley-oop. That was very kind of you.
