A loyal fan received the surprise of a lifetime when he unboxed a pair of Air Max Zeros and found them autographed by the legend himself, Tinker Hatfield.

Twitter user @Heath22Newman cleverly tweeted at NikeStore that his "Air Max Zeros arrived today and someone wrote on them," along with a photo of the vandalized goods.

Of course, that someone is no other than the Air Max's storied designer, and Hatfield's distinctive signature appears artfully penned just above the midsole along the mudguard.

Nike has pulled out all the stops in promoting its second annual Air Max Day campaign — including scavenger hunts and transforming cars into actual sneakers — and this looks to be yet another genius marketing stunt to cement the legacy of Air Max.

You'd better cross your fingers if you ordered a pair because this could very well be a one-time deal.
