Nike never hesitates when it comes to giving its signature Air Max line a contemporary makeover. We saw it numerous times last year with the integration of Lunarlon technology and lightweight, breathable fabric. Now, one of its latest iterations might just be its brightest one yet, literally.

At first glance the new Nike Air Max 90 appears to sport a subdued color scheme with a black and bronze upper. But with the right amount of light reflecting off of its surface, you get a vibrant effect that almost looks like it could be the work of 3M reflective material. If this sounds familiar, it should. Last month, adidas unveiled its XENO collection, which featured sneakers equipped with light responsive technology that transitioned from black to every color in the rainbow.

Could Nike have been inspired by adidas? Probably not. adidas officially unveiled its XENO collection on February 4, while the first known image of the Air Max 90 surfaced on NikeTalk on February 5, hardly enough time to really turnaround a sample.

No word yet on a Nike launch, but if the super hyped adidas release was any indicator, it looks like this kind of technology is officially here to stay.
