An Ohio teen has been charged after the death of one of his accomplices during an attempted robbery over Air Jordan sneakers.

The December 20 incident occurred in Miami Township, Ohio outside of Dayton Mall. Three teens approached two shoppers who had just purchased the "Legend Blue" Air Jordan XI. One of the teens, 16-year-old Jawaad Jabbar, pulled a gun on the men, but was fatally shot by one of the shoppers.

The shopper had a concealed carry permit and was cleared of any criminal charges because he was acting in self-defense, Montgomery County prosecutor Mat Heck Jr. told the Associated Press.

One of the teens, a 17-year-old, was cleared and released from juvenile detention, while his accomplice was charged today with involuntary manslaughter and robbery. According to the prosecutor, in accordance with Ohio law, a suspect can be responsible for any death during an attempted robbery.

The prosecutor's office is trying to have the 16-year-old tried as an adult. A hearing is scheduled for next Tuesday in Dayton.
