In what what tied the narrowest winning margin in New York City Marathon history, Kenya's Mary Keitany edged out fellow Kenyan Jemima Sumgong for the women's title with an official time of 2:25:07.
Keitany's sneaker of choice for her championship run was a pink version of the adidas Adizero Adios Boost 2. The race was Keitany's first marathon since 2012, after taking a year off to give birth to her second child. In 2011, Keitany finished in third after leading for a large portion of the race.
