The next era of NBA superstars is unfolding right before our eyes and the talent amongst them is nothing to bat an eye at. We knew it would take some time to transition beyond the days of Kobe and Tim Duncan, but the next wave of basketball players with signature shoes is upon us, and Steph Curry is on deck.

This year has already netted a signature shoe for John Wall and Damian Lillard, but one-half of the Splash Brothers is scheduled to get his own shoe during the 2014-15 season. Under Armour founder and CEO Kevin Plank delivered word that Steph Curry will finally get his own signature shoe with UA after countless PE's. Basketball is a primary focus for Under Armour as they attempt to jump Nike and other juggernauts of the sneaker world and cement themselves as a top-tier option for players throughout the league.

“In basketball, where we entered the business just four years ago, we’re seeing double digit sell-thrus with the $130 ClutchFit Drive Stephen Curry wore during the FIBA Basketball World Cup,” said Plank on the call. “Stephen will transition into his first signature shoe later this season but you’ll see us start to work the ClutchFit technology across our basketball assets whether it’s college programs like Notre Dame, St. John’s, or Maryland.”

After missing out on the Kevin Durant sweepstakes, a signature shoe for Steph Curry could just be plan b, but in our opinion the choice lends tremendous upside for the brand. Curry continues to grow his marketability throughout the league, and is quickly growing to one of the most recognizable players in the sport. Entering his sixth year, Curry is already the #6 ranked player according to ESPN and could lead the Warriors deep into the playoffs, further growing his personal brand. Keep it locked to Sneaker Report for all your future news around Under Armour and the eventual release of Curry's signature shoe.
