Australian publication Sneaker Freaker is set to release its second ASICS collaboration with a concept that might just be a familiar one. Pulling inspiration from its 2010 "Alvin Purple" Gel Lyte III, based on the Australian comedy of the same name, Sneaker Freaker continues with that popular theme for its upcoming ASICS Gel Kayano Trainer. Nicknamed "Melvin," the runner is based on the movie Melvin, Son of Alvin, which is the actual sequel to the Alvin Purple flick.
The Gel Kayano Trainers are decked out in a black mesh and suede base with hits of light grey and yellow throughout. Like its old man, the "Melvin" also features an asymmetrical color-blocking that sees charcoal ASICS stripes on its medial and a striking yellow on its lateral. Watch for the sequel to drop on October 17 through Sneaker Freaker.
