Sneakerheads and style-conscious dudes both agree that Publish Brand makes some of the coolest gear in the game. Founded in 2009, the California label couldn't be further removed from stereotypical conceptions of West Coast style. Far from laid-back tees and simple snapbacks, Publish has made a name for itself beyond the cuff-hemmed jogger pants they helped put on the legs of dudes everywhere. Recently adopting a more minimal aesthetic without straying far from their roots, they've also helped bridge the gap between casual sportswear staples and the slightly dressier world of proper menswear.
Now the company is bringing its distinctive take to footwear—and surprisingly, it's not a sneaker. Publish is collaborating with Vans OTW for a mixed material take on the Breton Boot SE. Made of water-resistant ballistic nylon with a neoprene tongue and collar, the boot sits on a Vibram Cristy outsole while an UltraCush HD footbed keeps your dogs in check. A stark white midsole clip and 3M ankle strip add nuance without overpowering the silhouette, making for a shoe that looks at home in broad daylight or under the cover of darkness.
The contrast of the materials and the dual nature of the boot inspired our exclusive look with them, highlighting the 3M aspects and the contrasting white and black colorway. The Vans OTW x Publish Brand Breton Boot SE retails for $160 and launches on October 25 exclusively in-store at KICKS/HI, with a wider release to follow in December at select Vans OTW accounts. To celebrate the launch, Vans and Publish are throwing a Hawaii release party on October 26 featuring Just Blaze, Dam Funk, and Salva. RSVP to the event at www.vans.com/vansxpublish.
