ASICS’ venture back into the basketball program was heralded by the resurrection of the Gel Spotlyte. A forgotten relic of the same era and program of the now fiercely popular Gel Lyte 3 and Gel Lyte V, the Gel Spotlyte was a titan of its time. And now it’s come back for our Kicks of the Day.
The Black/Purple Gel Spotlyte features an almost entirely black leather upper with purple leather accents and a red spandex heel. Red also appears on two eyelets as well as the branding on the tongue. A semi translucent white panel wraps around heel for some extra stability, and all the colors from the shoe show up in the outsole for some color variation.
