The last time J. Crew and New Balance dropped an exclusive colorway, the "Independence Day" 998s flew off the shelves just about as quick as 4th of July fireworks. Now the retailer unveils the newest edition of their ongoing collaboration, the  J.Crew x New Balance 998 "Concrete Jungle," which drops at select stores on September 13. Inspired by New York City with a surplus edge, the colorway takes hues commonly associated with traditional camouflage and adds bright pops of construction zone orange.

Made in the USA at New Balances Skowhegan, Maine factory, we got a hands on look at the pair (sup, #teamearly?) and admire the mix of suede, mesh, and leather on the upper, and see the shoe as yet another model menswear dudes and sneakerheads can agree on. The jury's still out on jogger pants, though.

A limited number of the covetable kicks will be released at 10 a.m. on September 13 at the Liquor Store in New York, Boston's Copley Place men's shop, and Hong Kong's On Lan. Just a few days later, on September 17, expect them to drop in select shops in New York, Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Costa Mesa, Honolulu, and internationally in London and Hong Kong. For more details, check out jcrew.com/jcrewNB, and peep our exclusive editorial below.
