The Shoes That Won Last Night: O's, Angels Battle it Out

One of the MLB's most heated series continued last night as the Baltimore Orioles hosted the Los Angeles Angels. Baltimore got on the board early after a two run homer by Adam Jones (pictured) at the bottom of the first. They bumped the lead to 4-0 in the 4th, but the Angels rallied back and brought the score to 4-3 to open the 5th inning. The O's managed to hang on from that point, winning their third in a row and improving to 60-46 with a firm grip on the AL East's top spot. Meanwhile, the Angels will remain at second in the AL West at 63-43. After spending the last few months working on his game in the minor leagues, Baltimore rookie pitcher Kevin Gausman continued to impress with a 7-inning stretch that kept Mike Trout hitless. "I was just establishing my fastball in and out. I think they had a little bit of trouble with that, especially (when) I was getting some pitches down in the zone that I loved, which was great for me. I just felt in rhythm and in control and I was able to slow it down when I needed to and speed it up when I wanted to," Gausman said of the win. The Orioles-Angels series wraps up tonight from Baltimore at 7:05 PM.

From Washington DC, 2013 Citi Open runner-up John Isner was eliminated in the second round, while No. 1 Thomas Berdych cruised to an easy victory over Robby Ginepri. Catch Berdych's kicks, as well as yesterday's best cleats on the MLB diamond after the break.
