In the grand scheme of sports market share, many consumers are used to Nike holding down the number one spot. The leader in innovation has dominated just about every sport they dabble in, all but the most popular sport in the world, soccer, which has been dominated by adidas for quite some time. Now, it's looking like there may be a shift of power, and Bloomberg is investigating Nike's chances of cornering possibly the biggest global sports market.
According to a report from Bloomberg, the two sporting juggernauts are neck and neck when it comes to market share in the soccer category, and combined they account for nearly 95 percent of the global soccer market. Over the year's, adidas has dominated sales in the soccer market, but that gap is becoming smaller and smaller due to the athlete's Nike's been able to secure under their roster, and several new innovations to the sport, with the most noteable of recent memory being the revolutionary Magista boot.
